OWNERS of a showroom in Wallisdown are facing over £2,000 worth of damage after their store was vandalised last night.

Staff at JB Carpets and Flooring were shocked to discover a 3ft wide hole in one of the store’s windows and the other one smashed when they arrived for work this morning.

Louis Davies, Accounts Manager for the store, said a large block of slate was used to break the windows.

He said: “It’s such a vicious attack. We’ve only been open since July and our directors have put their hearts and souls into this business."

A spokesman from Dorset Police said they were treating the incident as criminal damage. They said: “The incident happened between 11pm last night and 8am this morning when two large display windows were smashed using a stone.”

No arrests have been made so far.

Mr Davies said the store had recently started sponsoring the Bournemouth Carnival Band, raising £1,000 for the organisation.

“This attack has cost the charity, too, now as the money we were going to give them has to go towards the cost of repairing the damage. We’re sole traders, so we’re limited in what we can spend.”

The company has since decided to offer 10% off flooring to any customer who presents this article to help make up the donation money.
