A PRISONER who absconded is back in custody after being found in Swanage.

Perre Whewell was wanted by the Metropolitan Police after he breached the terms of his release on licence.

He had been serving time for an offence of burglary but had been on the run since March 3.

Police had used the Most Wanted section of the national Crimestoppers website to appeal for information.

Purbeck police announced on their Facebook page that he was in a police car on his way back to custody this afternoon after being found in Swanage.

They praised the work of police community support officer Chris Rosenburg, who operated the town’s CCTV and directed officers in their search. They also thanked the local community for their help.

“One less criminal walking the streets tonight,” the Facebook post added.

Look him up on Facebook. Maybe he'll find his missing brain cell in prison. Best place for him.
