BOURNEMOUTH church-goers were handing out leaflets today to raise awareness of persecuted minorities in Iraq.

The 11 members of the Turning Point church in Southbourne were encouraging passers-by to write to MPs, speak out on social media and donate money to aid thousands of Christians, Yadizi and other communities devastated by the Islamic State terrorist organisation.

Pastor Ian Rothwell said: “People are being killed, raped and displaced all because of what they believe. We want our government to do more to help the refugees and ensure the aid actually gets to those in need.

“It doesn’t matter whether people think the Iraq war was just or not – it probably wasn’t – this is not about invading a country but stopping people being killed for their beliefs.”

He said they were suggesting people donate via Christian charity www.opendoorsuk.org.

I would caution against donating. How on earth do you think money (or the goods it purchases) will actually get through to these people. It is as much as the US Forces can do to get the air-drops to the right people. This afternoon, here on USA TV, they believe up to 40% of the air-lift drops have fallen into the hands of ISIL. (For those who don't know, ISIL are the people responsible for the persecution of non-muslim.

Religion........ All this "believe in my God or I will kill you" stuff makes it a joke. Personally I wouldn't mess around with these targeted drone strikes. If you're going to get involved, then Napalm the lot of them Men, women kids...the lot. All the dogooders will rant and rave of course, but at least you will get the job done.
