Police in Sherborne are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision on the A3030 east of Bishops Caundle.

The incident occurred at 4.11pm on Tuesday, May 13 outside Woodbridge Farm.

A blue Scania heavy goods vehicle was towing an empty trailer when it slid on mud on the road. The vehicle then jack-knifed before leaving the carriageway, causing substantial damage to the lorry. The driver was slightly injured.

Police Constable Angus Wilson, of Sherborne police, said he is keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

“In particular I would like to speak with anyone who travelled along this stretch of road before the incident and can provide any information about the mud on the road,” he added.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have concerns or have experienced any similar problems with mud on this stretch of road.”
