THE tourism industry is hoping for a kick-start to summer this weekend as balmy temperatures finally arrive.

The Met Office is forecasting a sunny day tomorrow, with temperatures as high as 18- 20 degrees in Bournemouth.

Saturday is set to be pleasant as well, with temperatures again hitting the high teens.

Sunday will be cloudier but still dry, with temperatures reaching around 16 degrees.

Rain is forecast for Monday, but tourism bosses will be hoping that it brightens up once more for the late May Bank Holiday, which will see the first Wheels Festival take place in Bournemouth.

Jon Weaver, head of resort marketing and events at Bournemouth Tourism, said: “We look forward to welcoming people to sunny Bournemouth this weekend – it’s great to see families out and about enjoying the town’s award winning beach and gardens.

“We’re hoping the good weather is set to continue for the May Bank Holiday weekend and for the brand news Wheels Festival where the crowds will see three arenas, one pier jump, the UK’s first coastal speed demonstration straight and more.”

Current forecasts for next week are predicting slightly more unsettled weather, but with temperatures staying in the mid-to-high teens.

The bank holiday weekend is set to be cloudy with showers, but with temperatures remaining warm.
