A MAN was taken to hospital after a crash near Verwood this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash at Bakers Hanging on the B3081 earlier this morning after a car crashed into a tree.

Firefighters from Verwood and Ringwood were called and used hydraulic cutting gear to release the male casualty.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the road was closed to allow the firefighters to release the male driver.

The silver Vauxhall Astra was recovered and the road was open by 8.20am.

The man was taken to Poole Hospital by ambulance. There are no specific details of his injuries, but they are not believed to be serious.
