THE funeral of popular greyhound trainer Harry Attwater, who died after collapsing during a race meet at Poole Stadium, takes place this week.

Many tributes have been paid to the 79-year-old great-grandfather from Hordle, near Lymington.

His funeral service takes place at All Saints’ Parish Church, Hordle, on Thursday at 2pm.

His family have asked that, instead of flowers, donations can be made in Harry’s memory online to “The Greyhound Trust” via Tapper Funeral Service.

Mr Attwater collapsed at the stadium on March 8.

He died in hospital later that night.

One of many tributes paid read: “Harry, who bred his own dogs using the Caloona prefix, was one of the nicest and most genuine people in the game.

“Everyone is in deep shock.”
