Great reporting, just a facts might have made it a headliner:

Was the boiler switched off before the fire crew arrived, and by whom?
How old is the boiler?
Is the school open?
Is there any heating?,
How old is the headteacher?
Is the leisure centre affected?
Who phone the fire brigade?
How old where they?

Finally:

Did your reporter actually get out of bed this morning?

There has been so many stories in the press about this school, which all relate to poor commissioning of the building services / building management system all provided under the PFI/ PP finance initiative.
Thank goodness for the alertness of the caretaker staff otherwise the school might have burnt to the ground. Thanks due to the anonymous member of staff t(he)y are a hero. Council property staff need to rake over what has been provided under the contact and sort out once and for all the commissioning, issues or perhaps they do not have the expertise to resolve the issues? Remember you cannot outsource accountability
