THE final category of the photographic competition to celebrate Poole’s stunning harbour is launched today, Monday.

Winter scenes have been flooding in since the Poole Harbour Commissioners and Daily Echo competition got underway at the start of the year.

It ends in March with the last section dedicated to photos taken by under-21s, with many entries shown in the Have Your Say pages of the paper.

The Echo is encouraging its young readers to submit their winter harbour photos for the chance to win an iPad mini.

“With the chance to be creative, entrants can snap anything from marine life to watersports images, including entering photos from a camera phone.

Jim Stewart, chief executive of PHC, said: “If you’re under the age of 21 this is a good chance to show your photography ability.

“Whether you’re a photography enthusiast, a sailing fanatic or both we would love for you to share your images with us.

“These days it is unusual to find a mobile phone handset without a digital camera function and the quality of some of these pictures can be remarkable.”

Each month a different category has enticed readers to submit their winter-themed photos and hundreds have submitted images capturing aspects of harbour life from boating, watersports and commercial port activities to wildlife and fishing.

To enter email your picture to PHCphotocomp2013@bournemouthecho.co.uk including the words PHC Competition4 in the subject line. Entrants must include their name, address, telephone number, email address and a brief description of the location or event and time of year. Closing date for entries is March 8.
