Rip poor lady ....

There is a crossing just to the side of the tesco express but it does not look like she used it as the picture of the car is a little further down?

This particular area is a bit hazardous especially the stanfield rd and Herbert ave junction where I have to dodge the pedestrians running the gauntlet trying to get to tesco walking In between queuing cars and not looking both directions.......my heart is often in my mouth!

So many people choose not to use the crossing as they can't be bothered to wait! It is then the drivers fault if the pedestrian gets hit! It's a shame something like this has to happen to get people to realise that pedestrian verses car isn't good! Also daily echo - how can the police get a call just after 1am when you then say the accident happened around 7.45pm? Someone didn't read it before printing!
No you did not read it properly - the Police released a statement at 1 a.m.!

Sad to hear of the old lady's death and terrible for the driver too. Visibility last night with the rain wasn't good but Herbert Avenue is in a terrible state of disrepair. In fact the condition of it is downright dangerous.

I would say this would not have helped the driver to swerve or brake in time.

my feelings go out to the family.
over the last few years they have put crossings every couple of hundred yards down herbert ave as people have said it is unsafe to cross.
the problem is that people cannot be bothered to walk to the crossing to use it,i constantly see people crossing within a few yards of them and am baffled by the amount of pensioners doing this.
especially as they are the ones who complain most about crossing!
that said i bet the driver was playing with her phone/engaged in conversation with her passenger.

If you read again it says that a Police spokesman said just before 1am that Emergency services had been called at 7.45pm.......maybe you ought to read before commenting!

Once again, a person being run over by a car is reported as a 'crash'. Why? If you walk into someone else, you do not have two pedestrians crashing. Two vehicles colliding are a crash. A vehicle colliding with a pedestrian is not. It makes it sound like the person killed was driving.

RIP.

OMG bless her little heart may she RIP. Our prayers go out to her family & friends. I was ran over on 7.11.13 while walking my dog in Rossmore Road. There seems to be a lot of cars running people over these days!!! He fractured my Right Foot in 5 places, & Fibular Head Left. Police gave him Driving Lessons. These people should be banned from driving!!!!

I notice Poole Council are covering themselves over the state of the road in Herbert Avenue! They have put a large sign up saying temporary road surface! That way no one can try and sue them for damage to their car caused by the huge pot holes the length of Herbert Road! They say it's temporary but not when it will be resurface it! Crafty or what!
