In August 1982, it was a case of children helping children at the Rempstone Centre at Wareham. The local branch of the Save the Children Fund organised a mile of pennies on the pavement.

In 1978, a young soldier from Bovington Junior Leaders Regiment RAC presented a regimental Shield to the Mayor of Conches M. Chateau, watched by the Mayor Charles Patterson, when Wareham twinned with the Normandy town.
In 1979 Ferry Boat Inn B team were winners of the Swanage Pool League. George Davidson, chairman gives the trophy to Andy Graham with Derek Barnes, A. Keates, Steve Wyatt, A. Crooks, T.Saunders and the landlord Ken Truswell.
In 1976, 74-year-old artist Robert Russell, who had a studio in Swanage High Street often drew an audience from curious passers-by.

March 1981 Maurice Cooper of Wareham, right, received his trophy as the winner over Austin Williams of Bournemouth at the Purbeck Amateur Boxing Club show at the Durlston Court Hotel.
In October 1981, Wareham Lions Club president Colin Richardson handed over a Ressusci-Anne, the dummy used to teach mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, to Wareham St John Ambulance Brigade.
