Seaman Albert Swansbury, who served with the Royal Naval Patrol Services on H.M Waterfly, a trawler converted to minesweeper. He was 26yrs old when he was killed with 14 others when the boat was sank by German aircraft off Dungeness on Sept 17 1942. .

Vera Rose Rae working in the gardens at Upton House in the summer of 1942. She worked there during the war, having trained at Seale Hayne Agricultural College at Newton Abbot. After her death a tree was planted in the gardens in her memory.

Local man Arthur Cox found this in his father Cyril's possessions. He thinks it dates to just after WWII. Cyril is in the centre, wearing dark clothes and a white shirt, sleeves rolled up, looking directly at the camera.
