A TRADITIONAL country pub situated on the banks of the River Avon - The New Queen Inn is Pub of the Week.
Deep into its busiest time of the year, The New Queen continues to welcome families and holidaymakers to enjoy its locally sourced dishes, refreshing drinks and spacious pub garden.
The pub has undergone many changes since its takeover by Martin Burzon and Kamil Rymarz in 2019, but it wasn’t the easiest start for the business partners.
Martin said: “We had a really challenging start with the coronavirus, so we had to lockdown for a while and we had everyone on furlough. But now it’s going really well, and it’s been busy.
“We have faced a lot of difficulties in the industry, so I have to mention my hard-working staff as they always do the best they can.”
The building, found in Avon between Ringwood and Christchurch, is believed to have been a pub since 1725 and was once known as The Mermaid.
It has remained a popular pub and welcomes particularly high numbers of guests during the summer, with people flocking to enjoy the garden area, home to seating, a children’s play area and a newly built pizza oven.

Martin said: “A lot of people don’t want to go down to the beach because it’s too busy, and they are happy to come down to the pub where there’s a play area for the kids and the parents can have a drink in the garden.
“It’s a very busy part of the year for us, and we really appreciate our customers.”
Another particularly busy time for The New Queen Inn is a Sunday; the pub serves a delicious Sunday roast, whilst becoming host to live music from local artists.

Martin said: “Sundays are very busy, and we’ve received lots of positive feedback. We spent a lot of time building a reputation for our Sunday roast.”
But whatever day of the week, or time of the year, The New Queen always strives to offer the best service.
Martin added: “The quality of food and service is consistent. There is nothing worse than going to a place and having a really good experience, only to go back for a second time and having a really bad one.
“We focus on training our staff to the highest standards, to go out of their way for people and to always have a smile on their face.”
