A FAMILY friendly pub surrounded by nature- The Red Shoot is Pub of the Week.
Located in the heart of the New Forest, and with Ringwood only a short distance away, the Red Shoot has become the perfect pit stop to enjoy a cold drink or hearty meal.
The pub is Wadworth owned, but run by Swansea-born David Satchell, who until recently had worked at the neighbouring High Corner Inn.
David said: “I’ve only been here for three months, but I ran the High Corner for 14 years. I absolutely love being in the forest.
“I’ve always loved the Red Shoot- we’ve been neighbours for so long. When the opportunity came up, I grabbed it.
“It’s a quintessential country pub, and hopefully that’s the way it will stay.”
The Red Shoot’s location in the heart of the forest is particularly popular with tourists, many of whom stay on the neighbouring campsite, but the pub has been sure to keep its crowd of regulars.
“We’re very lucky with the location. We get wonderful people from the campsite- it’s like a little village in the Summer.

“We’ve also got a great set of locals who support us. It’s the best of both worlds.”
As well as a stunning location, visitors to the Red Shoot can explore an extensive food and drink menu, with options sure to please everyone.
David said: “Theres a lot of pub classics, so we have the food that everybody wants, but then we also have some more speciality dishes.
“We also have some interesting vegetarian options, and we’re very keen on the gluten free market. Rather than just having a couple of options, we have a whole other gluten free menu.”
Although David has only been on the premises for three months, he has been quick to help prepare the Red Shoot for the busy summer period.

“We’ve rebuilt the team and we’ve got a whole new kitchen team which are brilliant.
“It’s a great place to be. We’ve got really good team spirit. They’re a good bunch.”
Staff are also getting ready for the pub’s popular beer festival, which is due to be held from September 23 to 25.
