THE all-important Euros 2022 final will not be shown on the big screen.

BCP council have confirmed that they will not be holding public screenings of the England vs Germany women’s game on Sunday.

It follows the council’s decision to not show the men’s competition last year, despite a large screen being available in the lower gardens.

Instead, there was coverage of Wimbledon and the Olympics as part of the council’s summer long outdoor entertainment programme.

At the time, BCP Council said Euro coverage would involve extra planning as it would likely attract large crowds. Their spokesperson had said: “To organise a screening of the Euros would take significant resources and multi-agency planning as it would be an attractor event drawing very high numbers and requiring significant management and crowd control.”

The screen had been taken down, and the council have confirmed they have no plans to re-erect it for the women’s final on Sunday.

The public will still be able to catch the Lionesses battle for silverware, with a number of pubs across BCP showing the match.
