AN INVESTIGATION has been launched by police over a stabbing at a Poole recreation ground.

A 17-year-old boy and a man aged in his 20s were injured on Sunday night.

Dorset Police officers were called to Branksome Recreation Ground at 8.59pm.

The two male victims sustained suspected stab wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment, a Poole Police spokesperson said.

Enquiries are taking place in the area and there will be an increased officer presence in the area the force said.

The Poole Police spokesperson said: “We currently have officers in the area of the Branksome Recreation Ground following reports that two male victims had sustained suspected stab wounds.

“Both victims are receiving treatment in hospital and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area as a full investigation is launched to identify those responsible.

“There will continued to be an increased police presence in the vicinity to offer community reassurance.

“Officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”

Residents reported seeing multiple marked and unmarked police cars in and around the recreation ground on Sunday night.

The police helicopter was also heard overhead and ambulance crews were also in attendance.

One member of the community said they saw emergency service vehicles was they flashing lights in use in roads on both sides of the public open space.

Liberal Democrat Alderney and Bourne Valley ward councillor Tony Trent said reports of the stabbing were “worrying”.
