HAMWORTHY Park paddling pool has once again reopened at around 10am on Friday, August 20, having been closed due to a safety issue for nine days.

BCP Council shut the pool following an inspection on Wednesday, August 11, which concluded it needed to be closed after metres of sealant was missing.

At that point the pool had only been open ten days, having previously been shut due to Covid-19 restrictions and then its opening was delayed due to a missing part.

The authority confirmed to the Echo that they would be looking for a short term fix to see out the summer season before addressing the situation long-term.

In a statement provided to the Daily Echo by BCP Council, the authority confirmed that they had found a solution as “repairs had been undertaken” earlier this week.

The council said it was a case of “refilling the pool and doing the usual microbiological tests to ensure that the water is safe to use” prior to reopening.

With that now completed the pool has been reopened for the rest of the summer season.

A spokesperson for the authority added: “We will continue to monitor the pool going forward and review its condition at the end of the season.”

BCP Council previously stated that once they had found a short term fix to see out what is left of summer that they would then the authority would “consider a permanent solution for the future.”
