HAMWORTHY Park paddling pool has been closed once again, having only been open for ten days, following a routine inspection.

BCP Council said in a statement online that the authority is looking for a short term fix so the pool can be used for the remainder of the summer season.

The statement said: “During a routine inspection of Hamworthy Park Paddling Pool, we have unfortunately discovered that several metres of sealant is missing.

“For safety reasons the pool is now closed whilst we drain the pool and carry out work to resolve the issue.”

“We know that people will be disappointed by this news - as are we.”

The pool only re-opened on August 2 having been closed for more than a year due to Covid-19 restrictions and then the opening was pushed back as they awaited a new part.

Pat Bullock from the volunteer-led friends of Hamworthy Park, confirmed to the Echo that they hope the facility will be open soon.

Speaking with the Echo she said: “It is sad but it is something that just had to happen because of the damage.

She confirmed that the sealant was the issue and that maintenance was on site looking to find a new sealant temporary that will prevent the same situation happening again.

Mrs Bullock added: “Provided they can find another sealant that works we hope to be open at the end of this week or early next week, so fingers crossed.”
