DISTRICT officer at Portland Coastguard Mark Rodaway urged people to get involved with the second consultation period.
He said: “The Secretary of State for Transport announced in parliament on Thursday a revised proposal concerning the future of the Coastguard service. Portland Coastguard remains scheduled for closure although a year later than originally proposed.
“However, this is the second consultation document and responses are encouraged from members of the public and maritime community, putting forward their views and any ideas with a closing date of October 6.
“I would strongly encourage a constructive participation in the process.”
