DORCHESTER boss Mark Morris believes his defenders are facing one of their biggest tests of the season when the Magpies host play-off favourites Farnborough Town tomorrow (3pm).

"They're not third in the table for no reason and we are going to have to defend very well to hold them," said Morris.

"Their front players are very quick, but we managed to keep them out up at their place to come away with a 1-0 win, although to be honest it was a bit of a smash and grab operation, and we will have to defend just as tightly tomorrow if we are to do the double."

Farnborough, who were relegated from the Conference National last season, have not been beaten in their last six games and moved up into third spot after a 1-0 win over play-off rivals Welling United in mid-week.

Freedom "They have everything to play for and we will have our work cut out," added Morris. "But at the moment we are able to play with freedom because the pressure is off us.

"We are not really expected to reach the play-offs now, but we are still not mathematically out of it and if we were to put together three or four wins we might just find ourselves back into a pressure situation with a couple of games left."

For the time being however Morris's thoughts are more towards next season.

"I have already identified three or four players with other clubs whose contracts are up at the end of the season," he revealed.

He said he particularly wanted to increase competition for the striking roles although he would not comment on reports that he was checking on Andover attacker Justin Bennett in a Wessex League game at Poole Town this week.

After last week's 3-2 success at Maidenhead, Morris will be naming an unchanged starting line-up for Farnborough's first-ever visit to the Avenue Stadium.

That means another start on the bench for Mark Jermyn, an indication of the midfield options now available to Morris.

"When Mark Jermyn can't get back into the side the other lads must be doing something right," he said.

On-loan Weymouth midfielder Ian Hutchinson, who has yet to start for the Magpies, is likely to be missing tomorrow because of a family bereavement and his place among the substitutes goes to a fit-again Gareth Keeping.
