Pupils at a school in Piddletrenthide were visited by their local neighbourhood police mascot.

Community support officer Alison Donnison, along with the local neighbourhood police mascot, police dog Sam, visited Piddle Valley School & Pre-School.

The visit gave the pupils an opportunity to ask PCSO Donnison questions about policing and she made it clear to the children that the police's main priority is to keep them safe.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: "PCSO Alison Donnison and the Dorchester Neighbourhood Police Mascot, Police Dog Sam attended Piddle Valley School & Pre-School.

"It was a lively session, and it gave the children opportunity to ask questions. She was even asked if she liked donuts.

"Interacting with the children like this allows barriers to be broken down, and to give the children insight into the person behind the uniform.

"She reinforced the message that Dorset Police's main priority was to keep the public safe."
