THE moment a Portland cliff became shrouded in fog to leave it looking more like a mystical mountain-range has been captured on camera.
The dramatic shots were taken by Izzy Imset who witnessed the show of dense fog cascading down the jagged cliff face like a waterfall.
The top of the 100ft cliff was left covered by the white blanket, making the beauty spot appear like Cape Town's Table Mountain.
Mr Imset, 57, noticed the unusual weather-type while visiting Chesil Cove to update his daily community website, Chesil Beach Watch.
He said: "I was doing one of my daily updates for the weather and sea conditions and saw this incredible fog rolling down the cliff ahead of me.
"It went all the way across Portland.
"It stayed there throughout the afternoon until it got dark.
"We have had patches of fog before but never anything like this, nothing quite so impressive."
Grahame Madge, from the Met Office, said: "The dense fog across the south of the UK is down to high pressure in the area.
"Due to the stillness in the air the clouds are not moving very much.
"In this instance the fog has formed at the top of Portland Bill and then a small amount of wind has pushed it over the edge.
"The result is that the fog cascades down towards the sea."

"PLUMMETING temperatures have turned Dorset's roads into skating rinks today. And freezing fog has added to problems. But the winter weather also makes for superb photographic opportunities. This picture of a frosty morning near Lulworth was taken by Graeme Mclaren. Have you taken pictures of a frosty morning - or any other weather related pictures?"
