POLICE are appealing for help after seven outbuildings in Weymouth were raided by burglars.

Thieves broke into the storage units in an outbuilding at a block of flats in Louviers Road, Littlemoor, and fled with bicycles and diving equipment.

Officers recovered one of the bikes and some of the diving kit buried in a ditch on Louviers Road.

PC Sally Ludlow, of Weymouth police, appealed for any witnesses to get in touch.

She said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this crime and am keen to hear from anyone who may have information about who is responsible and would like them to come forward.

“The offender or offenders have targeted seven mini storage units situated inside an outbuilding and taken some very expensive items.

“The victim has been left out of pocket and is very keen to get these belongings back.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered these items in strange circumstances or for an unusually low price to contact Dorset Police on the non-emergency number 101.”

The raid took place between 6pm on Friday, September 13 and 1.30pm on Sunday, September 15.

Councillor Rachel Rogers praised officers and residents for working together in Littlemoor and echoed the appeal for witnesses to come forward.

She said: “Any kind of robbery is an invasion of your privacy and has an impact both psychologically and financially.

“Anybody who has got any information about this incident or any other incident I would say please do get in contact with the police.

“Littlemoor is essentially a safe community and we want to make sure it stays that way.

“The police have been working with the community and residents this year and the way they have been working together has been fantastic.

“I don’t want anything to spoil that or break the trust that has been built up.”

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information can call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 15:244.
