THE BIG screen came to Dorset as Brad Pitt got behind the wheel of a tank for his new Second World War film.

Hollywood star Brad spent a day at the Tank Museum, Bovington, in preparation for his latest £80million movie Fury.

He was given instructions by a team of experts as they drove around a field on Tuesday.

Roz Skellon, of the Tank Museum, said: “We've been helping Brad Pitt with his film Fury.“There are going to be quite a lot of tanks in it.”

The heart-throb was wearing a florescent jacket over a green jumpsuit and heavy duty gloves for his driving lessons around a field.

Mike Bennett, volunteer warden at Bovington Tank Museum, tweeted: “Apparently Brad Pitt has borrowed our Shermans to make the film Fury in which he plays a tank commander in WWII.”

The tank session was for Brad's next project, Second World War drama Fury, which is due to start filming in the coming weeks.

Brad will be starring alongside Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena, Logan Lerman and Jon Bernthal in the film, which is scheduled for release in November 2014.

The biopic tells the story of a crew of a Sherman tank in the final weeks of the war.

Also during the A-list star's visit to the county, it is believed he spent some time at the MOD shooting ranges at Lulworth Camp

Brad's other half, actress Angelina Jolie, was not seen with him in Dorset.

The Fight Club star visited Dorset in November last year to film a scene from his new zombie movie.

Dozens of fans battled the wind and rain to get a glimpse of their idol as he made a special one day 'Pitt-stop' at Lulworth Cove to shoot a scene for his forthcoming movie World War Z.

The heart-throb was dressed appropriately for Dorset downpours in a heavy parka coat.

Eyewitnesses said Brad spent a lot of the morning on Saturday zooming about the bay in a boat and landing at Lulworth Beach.

The hunk then jumped from the boat and ran into the arms of actors, who are believed to be playing his family in the film.
