Have your say on Weymouth bus meeting tonight
Updated 7:41am Friday 1st March 2013 in News
HAVE your say on changes to First Bus services tonight.
There will be a meeting tonight from 7pm in the Ocean Rooms at Weymouth Pavilion to discuss the changes that will come into force on March 24.
Under the changes First will no longer be providing the service 4B through Sutton Poyntz or the Service 5 and 5A that runs from Weymouth to Southill, Lanehouse and back to Weymouth.
Managers from First Bus will be at tonight’s meeting and will be expolaining the firm’s decisions to cut services and make other timetable alterations.
The meeting will be chaired by South Dorset MP Richard Drax and comes after a demonstration in Southill earlier this month as well as a protest meeting in Sutton Poyntz last weekend. Both were attended by hundreds of people.
First says in order to improve the punctuality and reliability of local services and better match resources against the level of demand for buses, a number of changes are being made to the network from March 24. Some routes will see a better service but buses will be withdrawn from certain communities.
