EDDIE Howe is looking forward to renewing his battle with Nigel Clough tomorrow, a manager he feels has done "an incredible job" at Burton Albion.

The pair have faced each other four times in the past, all in 2011 and 2012 when Howe's Burnley won three and drew one against Clough's Derby County in the second tier.

Clough began his managerial career at Burton before leaving in 2009, only to return to the club in 2015 following a spell at Sheffield United.

During his two spells in charge, Clough helped the Brewers climb rungs of the non-league ladder before eventually guiding them into the Championship.

They currently reside 14th in League One and Howe is looking forward to taking on the Burton boss once again.

He told the Daily Echo: "I'm keen to see Nigel again, I've got a good relationship with him. I've got a lot of respect for everything that he's done in the game.

"I think Nigel has never veered too far from his philosophy all through his management career. (He likes) a good footballing team, very hard-working, very honest, disciplined, organised. Really good qualities of teams.

"We know that Burton have done very well through the years and they're continuing their upward trend this season.

"So we know it's going to be tough, especially at their stadium with their home crowd and the support they're going to get.

"We're going to need to make sure we start the game well and implement what we want to do."

Clough this week described Howe as a potential future England boss.

"I wasn't aware of that, but that's very nice if he's said nice things," Howe replied.

"But it's certainly reciprocated back towards Nigel because we had a lot of battles a few years ago where we were both fighting for our respective clubs, trying to move the team forward.

"If you look at the journey that Burton have been on from where they were when Nigel first came in to now, he's done an incredible job."
