FITNESS coach Pablo de la Torre will be absent on the touchline when AFC Bournemouth face Manchester United this evening (5.30pm) as the Spaniard serves a suspension.

De la Torre was shown a yellow card during Cherries’ 2-1 defeat at Luton Town last time out, bringing the fitness coach past the threshold for a ban.

As such, he will not be in the dugout at Vitality Stadium tonight.

His absence will be notable, with de la Torre animatedly speaking to referees and opposing coaches a frequent sight during Cherries games.

The feisty fitness coach has exchanged words with Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham Hotspur’s Ange Postecoglou, and is aware of his reputation judging by his posts on social media.

His caution at Luton was the third time de la Torre was shown a yellow card this season, following bookings away at Sheffield United and at home to Manchester City.

Head coach Andoni Iraola told the Daily Echo: “He will be out, he cannot be in the dugout.

“So he is punished for one game. Someone else will be there.

“It’s been coming and it could happen.

“Tommy and Shaun, I think they know better the referees, they have probably a better relationship because of the language, because of the experience they’ve had with them.

“And I think they can build better (rapport) with the fourth official, especially.”

De la Torre was the only member of Iraola’s backroom staff at previous club Rayo Vallecano who made the move from Iberia to the UK.

Iraola’s former lieutenant, Inigo Perez, failed to obtain a work permit, and as such could not join the duo at Vitality Stadium.

After first crossing paths at AEK Larnaca, the pair reunited at Rayo. De La Torre also lists Valencia, Mirandes, and Almeria as previous employers.
