ROMAIN Faivre has joined up with Cherries, after his loan spell at FC Lorient was cut short.

Cherries signed the Frenchman in the summer from Lyon for £12.8million, before immediately loaning him to Lorient.

Faivre then featured against Cherries for Lorient in a pre-season friendly at Vitality Stadium.

The plan was for Faivre to remain with Lorient for the entirety of the season, but Cherries have opted to recall him early, to provide cover after David Brooks joined Southampton on loan.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has made 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist.

Lorient, who are part-owned by Cherries’ chairman Bill Foley, currently sit bottom of the French top flight with just two wins from 19 matches.

Faivre has missed the past three fixtures, with hamstring issues cited as the reason.

But Cherries say Faivre "will join his Cherries teammates in training ahead of Thursday’s trip to West Ham," and also take the number eight shirt, recently vacated by Joe Rothwell.

The former France under-21 international is the third senior Cherries player who have returned to the club after their loan was cut short this season, after Mark Travers and James Hill.

The transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Thursday.
