NEW signings Tyler Adams and Alex Scott are “not close” to making their Cherries debuts, boss Andoni Iraola confirmed.

The midfield pair completed their moves to the south coast earlier this month, already carrying injuries.

Scott picked up a knee injury shortly prior to his switch from Bristol City, while former Leeds United man Adams has not played since March due to a hamstring problem.

Asked for an update on the pair, Iraola said: “I think we are not close. They need time.

“The club signed the players knowing they would be out for some games and I think Tyler should be earlier than Alex.

“Alex probably is the one who will spend more time out. But neither of them are close to playing a game right now.”

Cherries have a lengthy injury list outside of Scott and Adams.

Ryan Fredericks, Adam Smith, Marcus Tavernier, Emiliano Marcondes, Lewis Cook and Dango Ouattara all missed last weekend’s defeat to Liverpool.

Asked if any could return to face Tottenham Hotspur at Vitality Stadium on Saturday (12.30pm), Iraola said: “From the past week, I think it is going to be difficult to recover anyone else.

“Probably the closest one, and we are also thinking in the next week we have three games, will be Lew.

“Lewis I think he will be able to help us during the week, but I don’t expect anyone else for tomorrow’s game.”

After facing Spurs, Cherries head to Swansea City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
