CHERRIES have completed the signing of goalkeeper Andrei Radu, on loan from Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old arrives to provide competition to captain Neto, with Mark Travers heading out on loan to join Stoke City.

Radu has four senior caps for Romania, having featured regularly for their under-21 side.

His performances in 2019 whilst playing for Genoa earned him the prestigious Romanian Footballer of the Year trophy, an award dating back to 1966 and won seven times by Gheorghe Hagi.

Born in Bucharest, Radu joined Inter’s academy in 2013, progressing up in their first-team set-up.

Cherries will be his sixth different club he has spent time out on loan at.

As well as his standout spell at Genoa, Radu has also featured for Avellino, Parma, Cremonese and Auxerre.

He made 27 appearances last season, across the top tiers of Italy and France, but both sides he represented went on to be relegated.

Cherries will have the option to buy Radu at the end of the loan spell, for a reported fee of around £7million.

Cherries also have Darren Randolph and Cameron Plain as senior goalkeeping options on the books.

Radu becomes Cherries’ fourth summer signing, after Justin Kluivert, Romain Faivre and Milos Kerkez.
