AHEAD of the biggest night of his career at Vitality Stadium later this month, Chris Billam-Smith has teamed up with the Daily Echo to give fans an insight into his preparations.

The lifelong Cherries fan, who grew up on the south coast, is set to face Lawrence Okolie for the WBO cruiserweight title on Saturday, May 27.

Bournemouth authorities have granted permission for the capacity at Vitality Stadium to be extended to 15,000 for the fight.

Here is the latest entry from Chris.

Last hard week of training completed!

It's a joy to type those words and get to the end of what I can honestly say has been my best camp ever.

Everything is in place and now it’s just a couple of sharpening sessions, make weight and then it’s fight time.

My fight kit has arrived and all I can say is, I think the crowd will be wowed.

Sophie at Fight Label and Gaz from Thrudark have taken my idea and really nailed the kit. I'm so excited for you all to see it.

Sunday we had my son's (early) birthday party which was good fun until I had the job of cutting the cake which was torturous as I couldn’t eat any.

The slices were just gazing at me, begging to be eaten. It’s okay. As always, I stayed strong.

Monday in the gym, we had a media day which is always good fun, doing a workout for the cameras and chatting with many different media outlets.

The BOXXER team were there, and we worked on a few ideas for the ring walk which I'm thrilled about and I've also I've seen the plans for the set-up which makes me extremely excited for the show.

I look forward to fight week now, the best week of camp culminating in fight night.

I look forward to seeing you all at the workouts and weigh-in on Bournemouth Pier.
