LIVERPOOL’S Jurgen Klopp has become the latest manager to speak out about Scott Parker’s dismissal at Cherries, stating: “I realised how important it is to have the right owners at the football club.”

The German joins former Cherries managers Harry Redknapp and Eddie Howe in commenting on Parker's removal.

Klopp’s Reds thrashed Cherries 9-0 in what proved to be Parker’s last game in charge of the south coast club, with the German manager seen consoling his opposite number during the match.

After the game, the former Borussia Dortmund man told the Daily Echo that he felt Parker had done an “outstanding job” at Cherries, stressing that “you need backing” to succeed in the Premier League.

The Liverpool boss commented on Saturday: “When you look at the other two teams who went up (Fulham and Nottingham Forest) and you look what they spend.

“Then you look at Bournemouth and you think, okay… What will happen there?

“Especially I think in a club like Bournemouth, you need backing from everybody, because it will be difficult.”

Klopp continued this line of thinking in his press conference ahead of the Reds’ game with Newcastle United on Wednesday.

When asked for his reaction after Parker was sacked, Klopp responded: “When I heard today, I realised how important it is in this moment to have the right owners at the football club.

“Some clubs are owned by countries but others have a structure like us and maybe Arsenal.

“Then three teams who came up, Nottingham are spending, Fulham is and I can't remember Bournemouth doing a lot, which is difficult for a coach.

“I felt for Scott.”

Parker has faced Klopp four times as a manager, winning once, drawing another game, and losing twice to the German.

Cherries also play tomorrow, when they host Bruno Lage’s Wolves at the Vitality Stadium.

Klopp will next cross paths with Cherries in March, when Liverpool visit Dorset for the return fixture.

In nine meetings against Cherries, Klopp’s Liverpool have lost just once, a 4-3 comeback win at home in December of the 2016-17 season.
