BOSS Scott Parker believes January signing Siriki Dembele "gives us something different" after he made his debut for the club on Wednesday night.

The diminutive winger began the Championship contest with Birmingham City on the bench, before being introduced on the hour mark.

Dembele, who signed on a permanent deal from Peterborough United, took up a spot on the left wing and instantly showed his willingness to run at defenders.

The 25-year-old helped Cherries close out a 3-1 victory, to lift them back up to second in the Championship table.

Discussing the decision to opt to keep Jaidon Anthony in the starting XI ahead of Dembele, Parker told the Daily Echo: "Jaidon was superb (on Wednesday) and he has been superb (this season).

"Dembele has not been with us and had a lot of work. He needs a little bit of time.

"I thought the glimpse when he came on, Dembele, in terms of he gives us something different, definitely.

"He can beat a man one v one, he can bring people right tight to him and get out of tight situations.

"He’s probably a one v one specialist in that, a dribbler.

"So he’s going to be a big help for us going into the run-in now."
