NEW recruit Siriki Dembele hopes he can inject a bit of life back into Cherries' attack as he prepares to make his debut tomorrow.

The winger, who arrived on a permanent deal from Peterborough United on deadline day, could feature against Birmingham City at Vitality Stadium.

Dembele had to watch on from the stands as Cherries crashed out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 defeat to National League outfit Boreham Wood on Sunday, due to being cup-tied.

But he is ready and raring to go if called upon to face the Blues, and hopes to entertain from the off.

Dembele, who was born in the Ivory Coast before moving to the UK, says he has always had a love for the game.

He told the Daily Echo: "It was six or seven (I moved to the UK). I’ve always played football as a kid.

"Just on the streets playing football (in Ivory Coast), not at a club or anything, just playing football and enjoying myself.

"I’ve just always had that, as a kid. Watching Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo when he was at United before.

"It’s just nice to do those kind of things."

He added: "I love to score goals, I love to assist goals.

"I’m looking forward to getting the fans off their seats, enjoying football, making people happy, scoring goals, assisting and making people smile."

Dembele, 25, had plenty of options as to where he could move to during last month's transfer window, after impressing at Peterborough.

Blackburn Rovers, who currently sit second in the Championship, above Cherries, and tomorrow's opponents Birmingham City were also interested in the lively forward.

There was some suggestion Dembele had been keen to move to a club in the north to be nearer to his family in Scotland.

But in the end, he opted to pen a three-and-a-half year deal on the south coast with Cherries.

"My family are very important to me and I could’ve gone to Blackburn for example, which is only three hours from home," admitted Dembele.

"But I look at the bigger picture. What’s more important to me is the football side of things.

"That’s the reason why I came here. The style of play here suits me more.

"I think Bournemouth have a better chance of getting promoted and that’s why I chose to come down here instead.

"Birmingham came in, but I definitely thought Bournemouth was the better choice because of promotion, the football they play, it was just better for me, I think."

Having been without a club, playing in the Nike Football Academy just five years ago, Dembele has had a rapid rise up through the pyramid, in League Two with Grimsby Town, before winning promotion from League One with Peterborough last season.

And now, in just three months time, he could at a Premier League club if all goes to plan with Cherries.

Discussing the possibility of completing a dream rise through the leagues in the not too distant future, Dembele said: "Yeah, 100 per cent. That’s why I came here, because I can almost see it happening."
