RESIDENTS have slammed 'blatant' antisocial behaviour on boats near Sandbanks.

Revellers on boats could be seen inhaling gas from balloons and urinating into the water.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, has complained of people regularly behaving antisocially on their boats.

“Quite often it’s the same people,” the resident said. “A lot of it, it’s just that sort of age group that go down there now. The wealthier background that has a couple of jet skis, a couple of boats, and they’re there and you see it all the time.

“It’s one of those things you never used to see, especially down there.

“Across that little bit of beach [in Sandbanks], all the balloons are floating in, they just inhale it and just let them go, which is just terrible for the environment there as well.”

Bournemouth Echo: Residents have seen 'blatant' anti-social behaviour on boats off the Sandbanks shoreline.

The man said he saw police officers speak to the people onboard the boats last Thursday.

“They were absolutely racing around in their boats and jet skis really close to the shore, and [the police] told them off for that. But I don’t know if they knew anything about the drug use or anything like that,” he said.

“It was so blatant.”

The resident said he had seen them exposing themselves to urinate off the side of the boats, and that he had noticed similar behaviour getting worse over the past year.

Dorset Police said they were aware of the problem and encourage residents to report the anti-social behaviour when they see it.

Poole Neighbourhood Inspector Nick Lee said: “Reports have been received by police and partner agencies.

“Officers, specifically from our marine engagement team, are working together with our local partners to combat the issue and the marine force support group undertakes patrols during the summer period.

“We encourage reporting to enable targeted action and would ask that reports include descriptions of any vessels involved.

“We want everyone to be able to enjoy our beaches and water, but we all need to do so responsibly and think of others.”
