TWO park cafés are set to reopen under new operators.

Redhill Park and Boscombe Chine Gardens cafés are set to reopen on Saturday, May 27, under the management of The Parks Foundation charity.

The cafés, which were previously operated by BCP Council, were subject to a disposal notice as the local authority looked for new operators.

The charity already runs a community café at Winton Recreation Ground, which is known for its coffee, homemade cakes and light lunches.

The Redhill Park café, previously known as Fox Café, was closed in November by the council for the winter.

The new operators will keep the café open year-round, seven days a week over the summer months, from 9.30am to 5pm.

The paddling pool will open over the summer months, operated by BCP Council.

An official launch event will be held at the café on Wednesday, May 31, with residents encouraged to stop by for complimentary tea and cake.

Meanwhile, the café in Boscombe Chine Gardens will open every day over the summer months between 9.30am and 5pm.

Mini golf at the café will offer fun for all the family.

Cathi Farrer, chief executive officer at The Parks Foundation, said: “We can’t wait to expand our work in community parks by opening these cafés at Redhill Park and Boscombe Chine Gardens.

“These cafés will become a hub for the community, and we’d love to work with other local charities and community groups for them to host their activities in them.

“We’ve seen the difference opening the café has made at Winton Recreation Ground, where police callouts have reduced by 44% since the café opened in 2019.

“All our produce is locally sourced using local businesses such as Websters Butchers in Winton and Berry’s Cakes in Lymington, and is served alongside organic, sustainable coffee.

“All profits from the cafés will help to improve parks and open spaces across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole, so people can enjoy a brew knowing they’ll be helping their local parks too.”

The new cafés will offer volunteering opportunities to the community, and the charity encourages anyone who would be interested to get in touch.

The Parks Foundation is planning to open another community park café in Alexandra Park, Parkstone, in Spring 2024, with the charity granted £130,000 to refurbish the pavilion in the park.
