A PRIMARY school in Blandford Forum has been graded 'Good' by Ofsted.

Inspectors have released a report on Archbishop Wake Church of England Primary following their visit in January.

It notes pupils at the school are happy, enthusiastic, and well-behaved.

The report said: “Pupils are happy at school. They work with each other to live out the school’s motto of ‘aim high, believe; fly high, achieve’.

“Leaders have established high expectations for behaviour and pupils rise to these. Pupils understand the three rules of being ready, respectful and safe.

“The school has high ambitions for all pupils. There is a sharp focus on ensuring that everyone has the support they need to succeed. This results in pupils achieving well.

“Pupils’ wider development is a strength of the school. Leaders understand the value of widening pupils’ experiences to impact on their life chances.”

“Leaders, including governors, take their safeguarding responsibilities seriously. A culture of vigilance is evident within the school.”

On issues which required improvement, the report said: “In a small number of foundation subjects, work to refine the curriculum is not yet complete. This means that pupils do not achieve as well as they could across all areas of the curriculum.

"Leaders need to ensure that the curriculum in all subjects supports pupils to remember key content over time."

Headteacher Daniel Lasbury-Carter said he was “so proud” of everyone at the school following the report.

He said: “The inspector was so impressed by our articulate, polite, hardworking children and by our staff’s determination to support every child to be successful.

"We will continue to ‘aim high, believe; fly high, achieve’.”

The school is part of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust.

Mark Lacey, chief executive of the trust, said: “Archbishop Wake is a school that consistently delivers on its high aspirations.

"The headteacher and his team leave no stone unturned in doing the very best for every child in their care. I am delighted this dedication has been recognised by Ofsted.

"We are so proud to have them in our Trust.”
