A WATERFRONT development in Christchurch is up for sale for more than £8.5 million.
Convent Meadows, better known as Elkins Boatyard, has been put on the market for the first time in over a century.
It follows a decision by the current owners to retire and pass the site onto new stewards.
Spencers Land and Development, who are the listing the development, say it poses a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ for a buyer.
Unconditional offers above £8.5m are invited for the freehold.

Convent Meadows is found between the tranquil waters of the Stour and Avon rivers and has around seven acres of prime waterfront land, rich in history having been used during World War II to build landing craft for the war effort.
The site has been treasured by the same family for more than 100 years, and is currently used as a caravan site and thriving boatyard, with 20 residential chalet pitches, 33 moorings, a dock and partial river ownership.
It offers considerable potential, with the possibility of new chalets or even new homes in the future, subject to planning.
The current owners of Convent Meadows are also willing to engage in discussions regarding the continued operation of the boatyard on behalf of the purchaser for a fixed period via the Spencers Land and Development Team.
A spokesperson for Spencers said: “Spencers are offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase Convent Meadows, better known locally as Elkins Boatyard, with around seven acres of prime waterfront land.
“The owners of Convent Meadows have decided to retire and are looking for new stewards who will appreciate the site’s rich history and continue to make memories on the land.
“This is a rare opportunity to own a prime waterfront development in Christchurch with a rich maritime history, a thriving business and endless potential.
