FANS of The 1975 camped out ahead of the band’s Bournemouth gig on Monday.

More than 100 devoted followers of the indie rock band secured their place in a queue at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).

Many had camped in tents overnight in a desperate attempt to get a front row slot at the concert.

The 1975 are due to perform at the BIC this evening as part of their 14-date tour of the UK and Ireland.

The tour will be in support of the band’s fifth studio album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, which was released in October.

18-year-old Grace had joined the queue at 7am this morning following an hour and a half bus journey from Swanage. She was waiting with friends Chiara and Caragh.

Grace said: “I’ve loved The 1975 for the past ten years, so I’m dedicated.

“I’ve seen them live three times before.”

Grace and her friends explained that the first 50 people, most of whom had been camping overnight, were given wristbands to allow them to go off and return ahead of the concert for a priority slot.

She was among the second lot of fans who had not been given a wristband, and were spending the day waiting in the car park.

Grace said: “I think we’ll be about three rows from the front.”

Toddi was another fan queuing ahead of the concert. He had arrived with his friend, Lucy Trigwell, at around 10am this morning.

Toddi said: “We heard about people camping overnight, so if you come early enough, you can leave and then come back. When its just on Twitter, you don’t know if it’s actually true. We thought ten would be the earliest to come.

“We were just at the cut off for the wrist bands, but I don’t mind.”

“It’s the first time I’ve seen them. I’m a relatively new fan, from around like 2019.”
