HOME BARGAINS has re-opened in Christchurch- and it really is bigger and better than ever.

The store at Barrack Road welcomed back customers on Saturday, October 8 following a huge expansion that saw it nearly double in size.

Shoppers flocked on the opening day to see its reveal, with queues reportedly snaking long around the shop.

Home Bargains, which has more than 540 UK stores employing more than 25,000 staff, said that it was one of their ‘best ever’ openings.

Their spokesperson said: “The new Christchurch store opening was one of our best ever. The store is roughly double the size of the old location, enabling us to house our biggest range of stock. The new store created 40 new jobs – and we are still recruiting.”

Shoppers to the expanded store can enjoy an increased product range, with even more toiletries, gifts, electricals, homeware, clothing, food and drinks, pet products, toys, and hardware.

And of course, with Halloween and Christmas just round the corner, the new store has dedicated ‘seasonal aisles’, with the spookiest of costumes and homeware, and the most festive gifting and decorations, all up for a bargain.

Plans for the Christchurch shop were announced earlier this year when the company said they wanted a larger Christchurch store.

Whilst they had looked for other sites in the town, they were unable to find anything ‘suitable’, and instead decided to expand across to the neighbouring unit, a former Harveys and Bensons for Beds store.

A statement submitted before the application was approved said: “The proposals will secure the long-term occupation of [the unit] and will allow Home Bargains to upsize into an amalgamated adjoining vacant unit.

"The proposal will result in an increase depth within the existing product ranges.”

Councillors at the time also agreed a new Home Bargains would ‘support the economic development of the town and will provide job opportunities’.

The works began in June, to be revealed four months later to patiently waiting customers.

Whilst shoppers might find themselves queuing for the tills, or even to enter, the expanded store seems to be worth the wait.
