A GROUP of women were left “angry” after a stay in a Bournemouth hotel left them feeling “dirty”.

The group of five, who booked into Kensington Hotel in Durley Chine Road, described the hotel as “nasty, awful and vile”.

But since the stay, the hotel's spokesperson confirmed a renovation for the room will take place in mid-October.

Leah Clements, 20, stayed for one night in Bournemouth along with four other friends as they “needed a night away”.

Leah, from West London, near Heathrow, said: “From the minute we got there to the minute we left it was horrendous.

“It was awful, I wouldn’t want my worst enemy to experience something like that.

“When we opened the door top our room, you could smell the dampness in there. There were stains on the bed sheets, holes in the doors (which had no lock), there was sand in the bottom of the shower.

“There were also dead spiders on the windowsill. My friend even found a bedbug in the bed. We were also covered in bites.

“There was a communal fridge which we wanted to put our drinks in, but it was covered in mould. The paint was literally falling off the walls. It was all really dirty and we didn’t feel clean at all.

When they complained to the manager, Leah said the group were told they could either choose from a full refund and find another hotel or a £50 refund and stay.

“We looked all over for hotels near us but couldn’t find anything; it was a Saturday night at 8.30, there wasn’t much choice at that time. So we went for the £50 option.

The hotel hasn’t put Leah off from coming back to Bournemouth, which she described as “lovely”, but said she would stay in a Travelodge because she “knows what to expect there”.

A spokesperson for Kensington Hotel said the owners plan to renovate the room in mid-October, adding: “We did our best to serve the customers with their complaints and we explained to them if they are not satisfied, we can change the sheet and duvet for them, to which they said no.

“We also offered to refund the full amount to them and check-out whilst in the meantime we offered to help them to find another hotel.

"They rejected everything and they wanted to stay and asked for a discount, so we gave them a £50 discount, refunded by September 23.

“In this case they took a lot of unreal photos. We always check all room hygiene before customers check in."

The hotel spokesperson alleged the sand in the bathroom was washed off the shoes from the group as "we checked the shower while they were in the room."
