THE owners of a new family-run restaurant in Bournemouth have said they are “bringing something new to the town”.

The Place arrived in the Bournemouth Triangle last month and has already impressed diners with its fresh and modern cuisine from around the world.

The restaurant was opened by Joanna and Dariusz Nowokunski, a couple keen to bring an affordable, but luxury, dining experience to the area.

Joanna said: “We want to bring something really warm and homey, but also fancy at the same time.

“People can experience really good quality food, but not be overcharged for it. The food is high end and its good produce, but at a minimum cost.”

Opening a restaurant has been described as a “dream” for the Nowokunski family, and with more than 20-years’ experience in the industry amongst them, they are set up for success.

On an Instagram post, they wrote: “It has been a lifetime of hard work, passion, and sacrifice to get here.”

Joanna added: “We have experience. We pay attention to the customers, we appreciate them, and we make sure they have the best possible service and meal.”

The Place boasts a bespoke menu, and although the dishes are largely inspired by international tastes, Joanna works hard to ensure the produce is sourced locally.

Joanna said: “It’s a small menu, because we want to keep it fresh.

“We try to promote small businesses, so it’s about getting produce from bakeries or small vegetable stalls.

“We’re looking out for other businesses, and supporting each other.”

Joanna told the Daily Echo that amid rising costs, such community support is more important than ever.

She said: “It’s hard, and it’s a very scary time for us. We’re trying our best and we’re trying to be efficient.

“We try wherever we can to use less energy, so if it’s not necessary we turn the light off.

“We’re trying to make sure the business can run well. We want to survive and support ourselves, but we also don’t want to overcharge people.”

The Place is located at 6 The Triangle, Bournemouth.
