THERE was confusion over the weekend after a football shirt giveaway left some football fans ‘disappointed’.
Cherries fans turned up to The Broadway pub on Saturday in hope for a free AFC Bournemouth shirt only to be told they had been handed out earlier in the week.
Greene King had advertised that on Saturday, the first 50 fans to order a drink and give a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support on would get the shirt for free.
It is understood that the event had actually been brought forward to Thursday.
One unhappy fan tweeted: "Came down to the Broadway Pub for the shirt giveaway you mentioned in your article yesterday to be told they were all given away on Thursday? Been queueing up.. not acceptable."

Greene King speaking on behalf of The Broadway has said that although shirts were given out on Thursday, the ‘majority’ of them were held back for fans visiting on Saturday, despite some people on social media claiming this is not the case.
Greene King, speaking for the Bournemouth pub said: “A few football shirts were given away on Thursday at the AFC Bournemouth celebration party but the majority were held back and given out on a first come first served basis today to celebrate the first day of the season as planned.”
