In a statement on Facebook, Mr Cribb said: "We have big news to share - as of Tuesday Urban Reef has new owners.

"Shepherd Neame, a fantastic family-owned brewer and pub company with over 300 years of trading history, is taking over.

"I believe we share the same ethos and values, and I'm confident they will do a fantastic job helping Urban Reef continue to evolve and serve the local community.

"Urban Reef will be closed today (Tuesday July 19) while Shepherd Neame get settled in, but they hope to have the Wood Oven takeaway counter open again on Wednesday, before a full reopening on Thursday.

"Please be assured that the fantastic Urben Reef team will be remaining in place and the unique offer you know and love will stay the same.

"I would like to thank all those loyal customers who found a place in your heart for Urban Reef and I'd sure will continue to do so.

"I look forward to watching Urban Reef continue to go from strength to strength."

A further caption on the Facebook said: "We will have more information to share later in a press release with a few more details, but for now we just did not want you to come down and be disappointed to find the doors closed.

"This news is for Urban Reef only. Urban Beach and Urban Garden remain open and are not changing owners."
