AN entertainment hire company with an inspiring backstory- Priory Entertainment is Trader of the Week.
Launched from Christchurch, Priory Entertainment provides hot tubs, bell tents, party tents, marquees and even garden cinemas for temporary hire.
The man behind the business is Scott Barrie, who spotted a gap in the market whilst trying to make arrangements for his daughter’s birthday.
Scott said: “I wanted to hire a hot tub for my daughter, but I couldn’t find any. After doing a bit of research I realised there was a market for it.
“Before I knew it I had started a very small hot tub hire company with only £500 to buy basic equipment.
“Five years on we are now the biggest entertainment hire company in the BCP area with formidable reviews and repeat customers.”
Before launching Priory Entertainment, Scott had worked as an ex-warrant officer and had served 34 years in the British Army.
Scott was forced to retire from his role after developing severe PTSD but found the launch of the hire business in 2017 was able to coax him out of that dark place.

He said: “I was in the depths of depression.
“Something inside me was telling me to keep pushing to stay alive as I was in a very dark place that no one wishes to be in.
“I started the business with just one set up, and that brought me out of my depression.
“The business made me think, and by thinking and using my brain, it gave me a focus and it brought me out. I started to come back to myself again."

In light of his success story, Scott has issued some advice for those going through hard times.
He said: “If you have a dream or a vision, then explore it, and go for it. Don’t hold back. He has also been involved in charitable work, raising and donating hundreds of pounds to food banks in the area."
