OFFICERS in Dorset Police’s traffic unit faced a busy weekend after coming across multiple vehicles with defects and drivers with document issues.

Two vehicles came to the team’s attention on Saturday, July 2, in the east of the county for reportedly being driven without insurance.

One driver reinsured at the roadside but the other could not, a spokesperson for Dorset Traffic Cops said. Both motorists were reported for respective alleged offences.

A short time later two vehicles were found in quick succession with “some fairly dangerous problems”.

A Honda Jazz had no stop lights while a Vauxhall Corsa had tyres touching the wing and wheel arch.

Police reported both drivers and the Corsa was made subject to a prohibition notice preventing its use on the roads until the issue was resolved. The Honda’s problem was rectified nearby.

On Sunday, July 3, officers were on patrol in the conurbation. The first vehicle that came to their attention was a car which reportedly had not been insured since April. Police seized the car and the driver was reported.

Another vehicle was spotted in Corfe Mullen on the roads with damage from a crash.

The police spokesperson described this as “damage so sever it risked injuring another road user.

Officers reported the driver and issued a prohibition order.

The last vehicle that was dealt with was an Audi which was “bobbing down” the Wessex Way in Bournemouth.

“When we stopped and had a closer look we found both rear wheels were running on the wheel arches and front wheels touched the wings when turned,” the spokesperson said.

“This driver joined the prohibition club too and was reported for this dangerous defect as well.”
