A BOURNEMOUTH-based business striving to build resilience, confidence, and self-esteem amongst young people- A Box Full of Joy is our Trader of the Week.
Launched in August 2021 by Nicole Bateman, A Box Full of Joy offers unique products, as well as workshops and coaching, to support young people who struggle to communicate their feelings.
Nicole has carefully designed card packs, emotions processing pads, and gifts, to help with communication, confidence, and self-esteem.
She said: “I help younger children who struggle to communicate their feelings, and then I also help anxious teens who don’t feel good enough.”
Nicole, from Bournemouth, was inspired to create A Box Full of Joy after her son was diagnosed with epilepsy. She said: “It originally started when I was creating resources to support my son who was struggling to express his feelings.
“I created the emotions processing pads to help him, so he could think about how he is feeling, how he wants to feel and how he can get there.”
As a former teacher, Nicole particularly understands stress surrounding school, and so has introduced a product range to support pupils.
“Being in the education system, a lot of kids came to me because they were feeling anxious. Especially during the pandemic- there was definitely an increase.

“I’ve created card parks for exam stress and some other emotions processing pads to help them break down their worries and realise what they can and can’t control.
“I also provide workshops for the parents and some one-to-one coaching.”
Now, as well as running A Box Full of Joy, Nicole delivers training across Dorset Charities, and is also preparing to release her book 'Letters to my Teenage Self' on June 14.
She said: “I’m launching a book which will help teens with their struggles but gives them hope for the future and lets them know there is a way out."
Nicole has also been named Rising Star/Young Entrepeneur at this year’s Bournemouth Business Awards.
She added: “It’s an exciting time at the moment.”
