A POST box in Bournemouth has been given a royal makeover fit for the Queen.
Sandra Dixon, who lives in Middleton Road in Moordown, wanted to make a topper for her local post box after being inspired by designs made at Christmas.
The topper features a small replica of the Queen’s crown and her three corgis.
Sandra said: “You see things up for Christmas and think that’s nice and I thought it would be nice to put something up for the Queen’s birthday.”

“I’ve put it up for the Queen’s birthday but I am also hoping it stays around until the Jubilee in a few weeks’ time, the Queen’s getting on a bit now and it really cheers people up seeing this kind of thing.”
Sandra added: “I modelled it on my head to make sure it was even all the way around.”
Sandra’s daughter Carole Ward said: “Mum dreamt up the idea of knitting a top for the post box and has been busily knitting ever since.”
This year, the Queen becomes the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service.
The historic occasion will be marked with over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend which takes place between June 2 and 5.
More than 250 street parties are planned across the BCP Council area to celebrate.
