THESE pictures show Christmas lights being switched on across Dorset more than twenty years ago.
Thousands of locals set out from their homes to brave the chill and witness the local festive illuminations being switched on for the first time that year.
Bands play and people wear fancy dress at various locations across the county, including Wimborne and Ferndown.

Many of the lighting ceremonies didn't take place last year due to Covid-19, but this year they make their return.
