THE world’s largest luxury sailing ship, Golden Horizon, is to visit Poole Harbour again today.

A five-mast, iron-hulled cruise liner – the tallest in the world – is due to arrive in Poole at 8am on Thursday July 28, two weeks after its first visit to Dorset.

The 525ft vessel, capable of transporting more than 300 passengers, is one of the largest commercial ships to berth in Poole.

The world’s largest square-rigged sailing vessel, run by Tradewind Voyages, visits Dorset as part of its South Coast Staycation trip.

Having previously stopped at Dartmouth and Portsmouth, the passenger ship set off from Falmouth in Cornwall on Tuesday July 27.

Currently anchored off the coast of Torquay, the vessel will arrive in Poole Harbour on July 29 and depart at around 6pm on the same day.

The ship’s first official cruise will see it visit Poole once again as part of its voyage along the English South Coast and Islands.

Departing Harwich on August 4, the hip will stop of at Cowed on the Isle of Wight, Dartmouth, Falmouth and the Scilly Isles before returning to Poole on August 12.

Almost a replica of the 1913-built ocean vessel, France II, the 8,440-ton ship was launched in 2021.
